About Us Field

Delphi Lavender Farm has approximately 5000 lavender plants, planted by husband and wife team Doug Eaves and Libby Harrop in the autumn and spring of 2003. The best quality oil comes from Lavandula angustifolia and so only the varieties L. angustifolia 'Pacific Blue' and L. angustifolia 'Avice Hill' are grown and distilled for oil by Delphi Lavender.

The lavender is machine-harvested in January each year and distilled within 12 hours of harvesting. The oil is bottled and stored in cool refrigeration until maturity, which is usually about June the same year. It is then ready for rebottling into the 10ml bottles for sale, or for use in the Delphi soaps and creams. The Delphi creams and lotions all have up to 4 times more lavender oil in them than is usually found in similar products. This is because we wish you to have the natural benefits of lavender working on your skin all the time.

Our Name

Our name, 'Delphi', is taken from the scientific term 'delphinidin', the name of the gene that gives flowers their blue colour.
